Walk for the Flemingdon Community Food Bank – July 10, 2011

A message from Mohamed Dhanani

Dear Friends

The Flemingdon Community Food Bank is one of the largest food banks in the City of Toronto. It provides 3000 pounds of food a week and serves over 2000 families a month, including 1000 children. The Flemingdon Community Food Bank is run by volunteers within the community for the community. They work with all of their clients to meet many basic needs, starting with food, while working to raise consciousness and to empower them to make healthy food choices. The community is a diverse multi-faith and multi-cultural group of 27,000 people who speak 90 different first languages and represent 130 ethnic groups.

Last year we launched a Fundraising Walk to support the Food Bank. This is our second year. Our goal is to raise $24,000 so we can pay the rent for the Food Bank for 1 year. Our guest of honour will be the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Transportation.

We ask for your support in getting this message out so that we can have more people participate as Walkers and Donors. Please find attached a flyer for the event, as well as a Support Letter. We are also in need of raffle prizes for walk day. If you have any questions or feedback please email me.

Warm wishes and thank you in advance!

Mohamed
