Proposed Redevelopment at Broadway & Bayview Avenues – Letter to Residents – Act Now (April 2011)

A message from The Broadway Area Residents Association
Proposed Redevelopment at Broadway & Bayview Avenues
Your Neighbourhood. Your Community. Act Now.
Dear Residents:
Since the community consultation meeting on April 7, we’ve received good feedback and offers of assistance – we must keep building the momentum. Your support is crucial to changing the path of this ill-conceived proposal.

This is not a done deal – we need to act now – here is how:

Help us raise more funds quickly
We must develop a viable position at the OMB and to do so we will need to engage professional expertise. We have an urgent need to raise more funds. We estimate at least $20,000 is needed to engage experts to help present an effective case to the OMB. Any amount your budget will allow is appreciated. We suggest a minimum of $100 and hope that some of you will consider a larger donation – amounts in the range of $200 to $500 will really help us reach the goal.

Cheques can be made payable to Broadway Area Residents Association.

We suggest that you copy your City Councillor – Jaye Robinson Ward 25 or John Parker Ward 26

This developer is seeking to build on 88% of the site versus the allowable 33%. This will have a significant negative impact on the entire neighbourhood – the current proposal has no provision for green space and allows a building mass that offers absolutely no transition to the neighbourhood. It also promises to significantly increase volume of car and trucks. The developer is unsympathetic to our position. We urge you to stay engaged and to act on this important community issue.
