A Message from the Broadway Residents Working Group:
Update re Proposed Redevelopment at Broadway & Bayview Avenues
Your Neighbourhood. Your Community. Act Now.
Dear Residents:
We are pleased that many residents attended the OMB pre-hearing. Your continued show of support is so very important – thank you!
Below is an update about the pre-hearing and a reminder that we are in a key phase of establishing a strategic position. We have connected with professionals for expert advice but cannot continue engaging their services without your financial support. Visit our website at www.broadway.ca to learn how to donate.
update: omb pre-hearing
The pre-hearing took place on May 19th, 2011 at the Ontario Municipal Board.
The attendees included Mr. Terry Mills of Sherwood Park Residents’ Association (SPRA); counsel for the developer; Sarah O’Connor (Legal) and Ben DiRaimo (Planning) of the City of Toronto and approximately two dozen area residents. As previously advised SPRA are representing the community.
The OMB hearing has been scheduled for October 18th, 2011 and at this point is expected to last 5 business days. Mediation prior to the hearing date is being considered by all parties.
have you donated YET?
funds urgently needed
Thank you if you have already donated; please chat with your neighbours and encourage them to do the same.
We continue to have an urgent need to raise more funds to pay for professional services of a municipal lawyer, traffic consultant and planner. These professionals will help us to form a viable position at the OMB hearing on October 18, 2011. Any amount your budget will allow is appreciated. We suggest a minimum of $100 and hope that some of you will consider an amount in the range of $200 to $500 to help us help you.
Cheques can be made payable to Broadway Area Residents Association.

Remember, this developer is seeking to build on 88% of the site versus the allowable 33%. This is going to have a significant negative impact on our entire neighbourhood.
The current proposal for two-storey retail with underground parking will allow a building mass with inadequate transition to the adjacent neighbourhood with no set-backs and a lack of streetscaping and landscaping. It promises to significantly increase the volume of trailers, trucks and cars on our streets. Streets that you use. Streets that your children use.
Our community deserves a better plan than the one the developer proposes.
We cannot sit back and hope for the best. We Must Act.
Please donate to our fund and stay engaged on this important community issue.
