Notice from the Leaside Property Owners Association
Date: Thursday, March 27, 2014
Location: Northlea United Church
Time: 6:30 p.m.
These restrictions are being proposed by Councillor John Parker after he consulted with the city traffic engineers. We are not sure where the impetus for this “improvement plan” came from – but there is a group of Glenvale residents who are very upset about it and let us know what was afoot. They have written to Councillor Parker to indicate their concern.
We (the Leaside Property Owners’ Association) and the residents are greatly concerned about the proposed changes because they would almost entirely eliminate on-street parking on Glenvale, which we, and they, strongly feel would make Glenvale a very attractive detour for those wishing to avoid the coming traffic mess with the construction of the LRT on Eglinton. This is exactly the sort of situation that the LPOA wishes to AVOID at all costs, and which is one of the reasons that we meet with Metrolinx and the city staff monthly to review traffic concerns related to the LRT. Parker did not inform anyone on that committee of his actions.
Some of the proposed changes:
2 – no parking on the north side from 8 AM to 10 PM
3 – 1 hour parking on the north side from 10 AM to 4 PM
4 – no parking on the north side from 4 PM to 6 PM
5 – 1 hour parking on the north side from 6 PM to 8 PM
6 – 3 hour maximum parking on the north side from 8 PM until the next day at 8 AM
This quite literally would eliminate the possibility of having family for dinner unless they were to arrive between 7 & 8 PM and go out every 3 hours to move their cars.
